How Callie Brown and Brandy Hall Went from CBG Nutrition Clients to Running their Own Nutrition Coaching Business
A year ago, gym owner Brandy Hall realized that, although she was a fitness coach and had basic nutrition education, she could probably benefit from hiring her own personal nutrition coach.
So she took the plunge, signed up with CBG and began working with Coach Paige Allert.
In a nutshell, her goals when she started were: “Slim waist, big booty, massive deadlift,” she said.
A year later, Hall achieved all this, including increasing her deadlift from 215 pounds to 340 pounds.
“I just watched a video from last year and I can barely get 315 off the ground. Now I’m doing 325 for five and six reps,” she said.
Not only did Allert help Hall—who had struggled with disordered eating in the past—with physical gains, she also helped Hall reshape her relationship with food.
Today, Hall said she is no longer afraid of eating the amount of calories her body needs, which is often in the 2,800 calorie range.
Finally, her body’s ability to recover improved dramatically, Hall said. For example, last May, she did 24 WODs in 24 hours as a Memorial Day fundraiser, ending with Murph, and she recovered so well she was already back in the gym on Monday.
“And it’s because I now know how to fuel myself,” Hall said.
Enter Callie Brown
Hall’s best friend, Callie Brown, saw the significant results Hall was having, and began working with Allert, as well.
Brown’s goals were to gain some muscle mass and hit PRs, but she also wanted to improve her mindset around food.
“I tracked my macros for a really long time and I just had this negative mindset about food. I felt guilty about cheat days, and just all the things,” Brown said.
She added: “Paige helped me transform my mindset. It was like an inside out transformation. She made a great nutrition plan for me, and she actually listened to me. You can track your macros all day long, but when you have someone who listens and understands what you’re dealing with and what your goals are, and then helps you reach your goals, that was big for me. That was really big for me.”
To say Brown has reached the goals she set for herself is an understatement.
She has gained 25 pounds in lean mass, she has gained so much confidence in herself, and she says she’s way less hard on herself than she used to be. Further, in the gym, her deadlift has increased from 275 pounds to 325 pounds, while she has added 40 pounds to her back squat (175 to 215 pounds).
“There is so much stuff where I’m like, “I cannot believe I just did that,’” Brown added.
Enter CBG’s Coach Mentorship Program
After going through CBG’s 16-week program as nutrition clients, Brown saw an Instagram post where CBG founder Justin Romaire asked, “Have you ever considered being a nutrition coach?”
Both Brown and Hall had been thinking about it, and the post was just what they needed to dive a little deeper.
“I was looking into going back to school to get a nutrition degree, but I kept putting it off and putting it off, because I have the gym and I’m a mom and I’m a wife. I wanted to be able to help my people in my gym outside of just fitness, but I didn’t feel like I had the knowledge. Yes, I could give simple tips, but I didn’t feel like I had enough knowledge,” Hall said.
Seeing the post for CBG’s Coach Mentorship Program, a five month program, was just what the best friends needed to get them to act.
They signed up and began working with both Romaire and Allert last summer to learn the ins and outs of being a nutrition coach and running a nutrition business, from nutrition science, to relationship-building, to marketing and sales, and all things business.
The Result
Brown and Hall have just launched their own company, B&C Fuel Lab, and are now actively working with and taking on nutrition clients.
They couldn’t be more stoked about the next step in their nutrition journey, and they credit CBG’s education with helping provide them with the confidence to feel comfortable taking a risk and starting their own nutrition coaching business.
Further, both agreed the five-month program gave them all they needed to be successful, and they know it’s just the start.
For those looking to start a nutrition business, or for those looking for help with their own nutrition, Hall and Brown are adamant CBG is the answer for the long term.
“Yeah, it can be scary to spend the money,” Hall said. “But this is now our livelihood, and it’s for forever. When you count macros, it’s here and there…it’s temporary. But five years from now, we’re still going to be doing this, so why not spend the money for your life? And your health.”
