“Repurpose Your Brain” and Find Yourself Again

How CBG has Helped Megan Holly “Repurpose her Brain,” and Find Herself Again

For many people, becoming a CBG client means working with a coach for 16 weeks to gain the tools they need to be successful to make healthy lifestyle changes.

But for Megan Holly, working with CBG has been so valuable to her that nearly four years later, her coach Justin Romaire has become a mainstay in her life.

Holly’s Story

In 2021, Holly was at the end stages of what she called “a pretty toxic relationship” and found herself in the worst shape she had ever been in.

“I was wearing leggings all the time, I wasn’t looking in the mirror just because I was embarrassed of who I had become,” said Holly, a Savannah, Georgia native.

The pandemic has also led her to start drinking too much.

“I was desperate to find myself again,” said Holly, who is also a long-time coach.

Holly came across CBG and decided to take the plunge.

Four years later, the coaching Romaire has provided has helped her, not only get her nutrition on track, but it has changed her entire mindset and life.

“One of the biggest things has been teaching me about my own self worth and my own strengths,” Holly said.

One time, during a maintenance phase, Holly was pushing to cut some more. But then Romaire told her, “You’re just so used to seeing results in everything that you do that when things are OK and you’re in a comfortable stage, it bothers you.”

Holly realized he was right, and this simple lesson helped her realize the need to have balance in her life, and that she doesn’t always need to be pushing for more.

“You can’t always be in a cut or a competition phase,” she said.

As a result of this approach, Holly has seen big physical gains in the last four years.

Her body composition has changed a lot and she’s leaner and stronger than ever. And at the age of 41, Holly is still hitting PR’s, and still getting fitter each year.

“I’m still hitting lifts that, at 41, most people would be like, you should kind of be going down the hill at this point. But I’m going to keep going,” Holly said.

More important, though, is how her relationship with food has improved.

“Before it was either not eating anything, or during that time during COVID, when I was eating everything. I would finish a frozen pizza by myself,” she said.

Further, Holly is no longer caught up in what the scale says, as she knows there’s a lot more to it than just a number on a scale.

“The scale isn’t my goal anymore. It’s about how I feel in my body,” she said.

Credit Where Credit it Due

Holly couldn’t be more thankful for Romaire’s coaching, as it has helped get her to the place she is today.

“A lot of this has to do with having that accountability,” she said, adding that the bi-weekly check-ins with him ensure she stays accountable.

Also, because her nutritional needs change, and will continue to change as she ages, having Romaire there to help her navigate this, now and in future, is also important. Last year, for example, she and Romaire began implementing strategies that consider her cycle.

“That was a big thing for me to really begin to understand…I have learned a lot and I continue to learn a lot,” she said.

One of the keys to the education she has received in the last four years has been that Romaire considers not just the food, but “the entire package.”

She added: “Justin has helped me through a lot of emotional times, through teaching me how to repurpose my brain. It has been life changing for me. I have gotten so much better as a human, as a mom, as a business owner, as a coach and as an athlete.”

Needless to say, Holly recommends anyone who wants help being a healthier version of themselves to consider the CBG approach.

“It helps to shape who you are and who you want to become,” she said.
