Abandon Macros and FINALLY See the Body Comp Changes With CBG
Megan Ruble had been tracking her macros since 2019, but wasn’t seeing the body composition changes she wanted.
“It was very frustrating. I wasn’t getting the body fat off that I wanted to,” said Ruble, an athletic trainer at a High School in Texas. Further, she started having all kinds of body dysmorphic thoughts.
Last June, after seeing a ton of posts on social media about CBG, Ruble decided to take the plunge because she liked the idea of abandoning the macro approach.
“I wanted a new way to do this. Y’all don’t track macros. This is fantastic. Thank you,’” she said of her thoughts when she discovered the CBG method.
Ruble was teamed up with CBG coach Annalise Moore and was off to the races.
Or so she thought.
Although she experienced some small changes, such as her bloating decreased, Ruble didn’t see the quick body composition changes she was hoping for.
“I didn’t feel like things were progressing,” she said of the first four months.
That being said, she really appreciated Moore’s support, and she knew body composition changes are sometimes slower than we want.
Instead of getting frustrated and moving on, Ruble decided to listen to the advice she often gives the athletes she coaches: “It’s a marathon, not a sprint.”
“I just knew there was more to this than just four months of being with Annalise,” Ruble said.
So she signed up for another eight months.
What Happened Next
Ruble trusted the process, and by March she started to see the changes she was hoping for.
Her weight only decreased by a couple pounds, but her clothes fit differently, her performance in the gym started to improve—including getting her first handstand push-ups—and she could tell she was looking a lot more lean.
“I am a lot less love handley, and there’s a lot more definition on my legs and my back,” Ruble said.
In fact, she recently saw a video of herself in the gym, and her first thought was, “Damn, my back looks good.”
“I have definition, whereas before there was a layer of fluff,” she added.
Ruble credits the CBG approach, and specifically Moore’s coaching, to her recent body composition changes, an approach that has her eating a lot more than when she tracked her macros.
“I knew I always had a problem with protein. I wasn’t eating enough. I was only eating 75 grams of protein a day, and I needed between 140 and 150 grams,” she said. The CBG approach gave her the tools to achieve this!
Further, Ruble now knows there’s a lot more to it than the number on the scale, as she can see from her weekly pictures how different her body looks, but on the scale the number has only changed by a pound or two.
“It took a really long time for my eyes to see the changes that were happening,” she explained.
Ruble’s next plan is to start working with her own nutrition clients, and she has been going through the CBG Coach Mentorship Program in recent weeks to prepare her to launch her own business.
Ruble had already gone through Precision Nutrition education prior to signing up with CBG, but what she was missing was the business advice.
In this sense, the CBG Mentorship Program has helped her “put the business puzzle pieces together” to get her to a place where she’s confident she can build her own part-time nutrition coaching business.
And thanks to the CBG Mentorship Program, Ruble finally is a CBG coach!
Ruble’s Message
Needless to say, Ruble recommends CBG to anyone looking for help with their own nutrition as well as those looking to become nutrition coaches.
“The methodology behind it is really nice. It’s not cut and dry. There are different ways it can be moulded to help the client,” she said. “If you don’t want math at all, it can be done that way to make it easier for you and it can be tailored to your schedule. I really like that. And I like that there’s an open door policy so you can talk to your coach whenever you need to.”
She added: “Annalise helped me through my struggles in the beginning and helped me bring it all together. Nobody ever said it would be a sprint. Everyone’s body is different, and the [CBG approach] helps you adapt to the money wrenches thrown at you. They care. They genuinely care.”
