When the Scale Doesn’t Move, but Your Body Composition Changes
Alisha Tramble tried everything to lose weight and change her body composition.
At one point, she began fasting all morning. But, then she’d “crash and burn at night,” and would be so hungry that she’d eat everything in sight.
“Instead of having one chip, I’d eat the whole bag,” she said.
She also had a habit of “trashing the weekend,” she confessed. Alisha found herself constantly having to reset and re-commit on Monday to a diet that simply was not working.
She found it exhausting.
By 2021, Alisha was working out four or five days a week and counting her macros. Still, she continued to fast in the morning and save most of her macros for the evening.
Because macros don’t discriminate based on quality, she found herself “eating all this garbage because it fit my macros,” she said. “I wasn’t eating healthy.”
On top of that, her body composition didn’t change.
Enter CBG
In the summer of 2021, Alisha, who lived in Madison, Wisconsin at the time, met Coach Justin Romaire at the Games.
Coach Romaire told her about the CBG coaching program. “Why not?” she figured. After all, nothing else had been working all that well for her.
Her goal was simple: to lose weight.
Coach Romaire introduced Alisha to the CBG blueprint approach and convinced her to begin eating in the morning. His coaching immediately made a huge difference.
“I was like, ‘Oh wow, this does work,’” she said. “That was probably the best habit I learned from him.”
Alisha continued working with Coach Romaire for three months, following the CBG blueprint. But more importantly, she developed habits she could sustain long-term.
Her journey started with getting her protein and her vegetables first and letting go of the idea that she needed to be perfect.
Before she knew it, her entire relationship with food had changed. She no longer fasted all morning. She no longer found herself trying to be perfect, only to give up and eat everything around her. She realized perfection wasn’t possible.
“I realized that if I eat something that isn’t that healthy, it’s not that big of a deal,” she said.
After finishing the three month program, Alisha went into the world and was able to continue to employ the habits she learned from Coach Romaire.
A year later, she went back and worked with Coach Romaire again for a refresh of sorts. But, for the most part, Coach Romaire had equipped her with the tools she needed.
The Result: Although her weight on the scale didn’t change much, she completely transformed her body composition.
Alisha Today
Five years later, Alisha, now 42, and living in Illinois, is still eating her protein, eating her vegetables and is largely following the CBG blueprint on her own.
After finishing the CBG program, her body has continued to respond. Alisha takes pride in the fact that she’s leaner and stronger today.
Best of all, she’s no longer “so focused on food,” she explained. The obsession with food used to have power over her. But now? “It’s just food.”
“I don’t weigh or measure anything, and I don’t have an obsession with food anymore. And I’m not so focused on being perfect. I’m more focused on being consistent, and it’s working.”
Today, when Alisha hears about others tracking their macros, she can’t help but think: “Oh gosh, I can’t believe you’re doing that to yourself. There is such a simpler and happier way to live.”
Needless to say, five years after graduating from the CBG program, Alisha still highly recommends Coach Romaire’s approach to nutrition.
“The biggest thing is people think they can do it on their own, that they don’t need…someone [else to help]. But if they could do it on their own, they would have done it already,” she said.
She added: “You don’t need a 1,000 calorie a day diet, and you don’t need to limit yourself. You just need accountability and someone to help you.”
